Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Amanda studied international relations at Brown University (USA) and went on to get two Masters degrees, one in international trade at SciencesPo (France) and another one in audiovisual arts at KU Leuven (Belgium). After a brief career in finance she dedicated herself to more artistic and entrepreneurial pursuits, and it was following her creative spirit that she founded Vincit Tutoring. ​Amanda has consistently taught and mentored throughout her life and learns tremendously working with teenagers and young professionals as they prepare to study abroad. She feels that success in any test or evaluation comes from being attentive and focused throughout the entire preparation process.

Amanda Andersen
Lucas Medeiros
Prior to co-founding Vincit Tutoring, Lucas spent most of his professional life wondering what it would be like to teach full time. Lucas is a trained economist with degrees from the University of Chicago and Johns Hopkins University, and his professional experience largely lies within the economics field. His interest in teaching, however, kept him involved in activities such as volleyball coaching and academic tutoring throughout most of his adult life. Lucas' pedagogical experience ranges from test prep to languages, social studies, science, and math; from students in elementary school to graduate school; and from special needs to gifted and talented individuals. He is now, finally, a full-time teacher and loves it. Lucas has always enjoyed tests and is especially happy to be able to share his enthusiasm for tests with his students. He is an expert in the math portion of the SAT.

Alexandra Nascimento
Alexandra was born in Belo Horizonte/MG in 1968, but has lived in Rio de Janeiro since 1981 and is a “carioca” at heart. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Sciences from UNISUAM (2000) and a post-graduate degree in Cultural Management from Universidade Estácio de Sá (2008). Her career in the cultural sector includes a role as administrator of the Escola de Artes Visuais-EAV do Parque Lage (1994-2007) and since 2007, as partner & director at Nossa Galeria de Arte, recognized with the prestigious Tiradentes Medal. Alexandra has always had an interest in the arts, but her professional experience with critics and artists formed her as a multimedia and visual artist. At Vincit Tutoring, Alexandra is responsible for client contracts, billing, accounting, and other managerial aspects of running the company, which is an art in itself.

D'Arcy Dornan
Dr. D'Arcy Dornan has years of experience in international education (teaching, research and program management) and international business and sustainable development and is delighted to be working in partnership with Vincit Tutoring! He has a holistic, active and more experiential learning/tutoring philosophy that provides real tangible results. He has experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors and works as a consultant in global leadership training, development and organizational learning with students, executives and organizations. He is the Vice President of the World Institute for Action Learning Brazil and represents several international entities in Brazil. He is originally from North America (Canada and the U.S.) and received his Ph.D. from the University of California (Davis), his Master's from the Paris I University, Panthéon Sorbonne and a Bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University (USA)/University of Bristol (UK).
